Thrive
At Lapford, every child matters; all children need to feel safe, special, included, appreciated and valued in order to flourish. We want every child to come into school feeling happy, confident and safe, ready to embrace the day in our secure, caring environment.
We are very excited and pleased to share the news that Lapford School is now adopting the Thrive Approach. Thrive supports children with their emotional health, well being and social skills, all of which are needed to enable learning to take place. Children cannot always put their needs into words, but the way children behave can tell us a lot about how they are feeling. By supporting children to recognise and notice these feelings and emotions it can help with their development and learning. People sometimes need some additional support with their emotional growth, which can be temporary or over a longer time frame. Thrive promotes their emotional and social growth by building positive relationships and helps children to explore and understand their feelings through various activities.
The Thrive approach is based on growing evidence that the brain develops through personal and social interaction. The relationships that we have with significant adults is fundamental to who we grow up to be. Thrive equips children to deal with their emotions, helps them to manage difficult situations or circumstances and builds self-esteem.
Below you will find a useful guide for parents and carers which will give you an insight into the wonderful things we can achieve using the Thrive approach.
